These beautiful bow handle bread knives have been hand made by multiple Australian woodworkers - @theleurabodger in the Blue Mountains, and Greg Faure in Tasmania. Both makers use local wood to handcraft their bow knives and the end result is really amazing.
They work a little bit different to a normal bread knife - check out the video of us using the sharp serrated knife on a fresh loaf. Makes light work of a crusty sourdough loaf, and can cut super thin slices compared to a normal bread knife!

As with anything new, I was very hesitant how well things would go. But my first loaf turned out yum, and I learnt a few things on how to improve. From there my loaves are delicious and irresistible. We polish off a loaf in a weekend.
I have made a few of the left over recipes for pancakes and English muffins. I have also made crumpets, and they were sooooo good.
I am on my second starter, my first one I couldnt recover from the acetone smell. I think the starter is probably the most variable part in the process. Sometimes it's so amazing and bubbly, sometimes I have to wait a few feeds to get the same result. I think come winter I will have to purchase the heating box so I can keep the temperature on point.
Making the loaves , and anything else from the starter is a very enjoyable experience. I love that I know exactly what is in the food. The loaf, when we don't eat it in a weekend, lasts very well in the cotton bag. I cover the cut side with glad wrap so it doesn't air dry.
We purchased the bow bread knife, and it is a game changer for slicing our bread.
The Dutch Oven was also a fantastic purchase.
If you are keen on starting your sour dough journey, do it. It is so much fun.
